Themed exhibition in Reading room
Since the mid-20th century, postcolonialism has been concerned with the history of European colonialism and imperialism. In doing so, it also advocates, among other things, the decolonisation and political sovereignty of former colonies towards their colonial powers.
During the colonial occupation, numerous art objects found their way into European museums. The countries of origin fought for their restitution for a long time - now the stolen cultural heritage is gradually returning.
In the Teßmann Library’s Reading room, a selection of books from our collection on the subject will be on display until the end of October 2022.
The books can be taken on loan.
